墨西拿期

墨西拿期（英语：）是中新世的第六个阶段。其起止时间为7.246百万年前和5.333百万年前。墨西拿期前面是托尔顿期，后面是上新世的赞克尔期。

墨西拿期的名称Messinian是由瑞士地层学家卡尔·迈尔-艾马尔在1867年命名的[4]。其名称源自意大利西西里岛上的城市墨西拿，其中的墨西拿期蒸发岩沉积就是那个时期的产物。

在墨西拿期时，发生了墨西拿盐度危机，地中海一度变干，之后海水又重新注入。
