南人党是在1591年因反对李山海从东人党中分裂出来，领袖是柳成龙。在1607年柳成龙死后，尹𫔔在1675－1678年出任南人党领袖。
他们支持张禧嫔成为王妃，但因后来仁显王后复位被赶出朝廷，但他们仍生存至18世纪。
前左议政许穆是该派重要人物。
