CentOS

（）是Linux发行版之一，它是来自于（RHEL）依照开放原代码规定发布的原代码所编译而成。由于出自同样的原代码，因此有些要求高度稳定性的服务器以CentOS替代商业版的Red Hat Enterprise Linux使用。两者的不同，在于CentOS不包含封闭原代码软件。CentOS 对上游代码的主要修改是为了移除不能自由使用的商标。[2]CentOS和RHEL一样，都可以使用Fedora EPEL来补足软件。

2014年，CentOS宣布与Red Hat合作[3]，但CentOS将会在新的委员会下继续运作，不受RHEL的影响[4]。

2020年12月8日，红帽公司单方面终止CentOS的开发。CentOS的创始人Gregory Kurtzer创建了Rocky Linux项目，以继承CentOS的原始目标。

目前，CentOS的上游版本滚动更新版分支CentOS Stream开发仍在继续。

处理器架构

CentOS有下列处理器平台的版本：

  • Intel x86及兼容架构（32比特）（CentOS 7 的32比特版本由AltArch SIG提供支持）[5]
  • Intel Itanium（64比特）（新版本不再支持）
  • x86-64 (AMD64和Intel 64，64比特）
  • PowerPC G3及G4（测试版）（新版本不再支持）
  • IBM的eServer z系列及S/390大型主机（新版本不再支持）
  • 龙芯（Loongson）采用的MIPS架构（32位、64位）[6] (非官方支持 )
  • AArch64（ARM架构中的ARMv8或ARM64，64比特）（由AltArch SIG提供支持）[7]

另外有限度的支持两款旧型处理器：

版本

CentOS版本号有两个部份，一个主要版本和一个次要版本，主要和次要版本号分别对应于RHEL的主要版本与更新套件，CentOS采取从RHEL的原代码套件来构建。例如CentOS 4.4构建在RHEL 4.0的更新第4版。

自2006年中，CentOS 4.4版本开始（前身为RHEL 4.0更新第4版），Red Hat采用了和CentOS完全相同的版本约定，例如：Red Hat 4.5。

CentOS 5和RHEL 5已经在2017年3月31日结束生命周期。[8]

CentOS 8在2019年9月24日发布，此版本与之前的套件库不同，主要分为两个，分别为BaseOS和AppStream，并且开始使用dnf作为管理套件的程序。

CentOS开发团队于2020年12月8日宣布，传统的CentOS 8将仅维护至2021年底，之后仅维护CentOS Stream[9]，使其变为滚动发行的散布版（CentOS 7仍将持续维护至原本的支持周期结束）。
