  • 60年，汉明帝图中兴功臣三十二人像于南宫云台，即云台二十八将。
  • 62年，北匈奴攻五原，被南匈奴击退。
  • 65年，东汉政府置度辽营及度辽将军。汉明帝梦见金人，遣郎中蔡愔出使西域，求佛书。
  • 66年，南匈奴遣子弟入中国太学。
  • 67年，蔡愔偕西域僧归，佛法从此传入中国。
  • 69年，哀牢夷内附。
