美國州份及領地格言列表

美國的大多數的州份及領地都有自己的格言，包括华盛顿哥伦比亚特区和3個美国领地。各州的格言有時可以在各州的州徽或州旗上找到。其中個別的州份通過在州議會立法，正式指定了該州的格言，而其他州份的格言只作為其州徽的一個元素。美國本身的格言是「我們信仰上帝」（），由美国国会通過，並由總統德怀特·大卫·艾森豪威尔於1956年7月30日簽署成為法律。[1]格言「合众为一」（）雖然於1782年批准用於美国国徽，但從未通過立法確立為國家格言。

南卡罗来纳州的兩個格言均為拉丁文。[2]肯塔基州、北达科他州以及佛蒙特州也有兩個格言，一個拉丁文，另一個是英文。[3][4]除關島和北马里亚纳群岛沒有任何格言外，所有州份及領地都有至少一個格言。[5]英语和拉丁语是各州格言使用最多的語言，有25個州份及領地分別使用。7個州份及領地使用另一種語言，其中每種語言只使用一次。有8個州份和2領地在其州徽上印有其格言；有38個州份和4個領地在其州徽上印有其格言。

以下列表所使用的“日期”是該格言在官方上使用的最早日期。由於有些州份沒有通過立法的方式規定該州的格言，但是卻又在州徽上使用，在這種情況下，列表钟的日期為州徽採用的日期。目前最早使用的格言是波多黎各的「以約翰為名」（），由西班牙人在1511年授予該島。[6]
