爪腳獸

爪腳獸（Ancylotherium）是爪獸科较晚生存的一類，生存於650-180萬年前的中新世晚期至更新世。

描述

爪腳獸相對較大，肩高達2米，外觀較像山羊。爪腳獸有長的前肢及短的後肢，但是牠們並非趾行的。牠們像北美洲的石爪獸。

爪腳獸生活在東非及南非的大草原。牠們是草食性的，適合吃大草原樹上的植物。

爪腳獸的近親是其他的奇蹄目，包括已滅絕的雷獸及現今哺乳動物，如馬、貘及犀牛。

化石

爪腳獸的化石遺骸在很多東非及南非的人科化石位址中發現，如拉多里、奧杜威及奧莫河。
