尼姑

尼姑，指佛教女性出家僧侣。「尼」在梵语中是女性词尾，在汉族社会习惯上，把女性出家众（沙弥尼、式叉尼、比丘尼等）通称为尼姑。但因为三姑六婆这种民间称谓，尼姑一词，往往被佛门中人被视为差别用语，所以通常不受佛门使用，如知名的比丘尼释昭慧即大声疾呼，反对尼姑一词。
