背景与发行
在〈The Feels〉发行前，TWICE已发行以英语形式录制的单曲，包含〈CRY FOR ME〉、〈I CAN'T STOP ME〉以及〈MORE & MORE〉的英语版本[1]；回溯到2018年6月15日，发行了1969年积逊五人组的单曲〈I Want You Back〉之翻唱版本，为数字单曲形式，录制全英文原版歌词之歌曲[2][3]，而该翻唱版本后来收录于TWICE的首张日语录音室专辑《BDZ》，为第十首也是最后一首收录该专辑的歌曲，另外也作为2018年上映的日本电影《老师君主》（日语：）之主题曲[4]；2019年11月20日，发行第二张日语录音室专辑《&TWICE》，并收录第一首英语原创歌曲〈What You Waiting For〉。[5]
随着第十张迷你专辑《Taste of Love》的发行[6]，TWICE在2021年6月25日宣布将在9月的某个周五发行第一首官方英语单曲[1][7]，而这首单曲的歌名在当时并没有透露，一直到8月6日发布一张预告照说明有一双手拿着已打开的信封[7][8]；8月23日，JYP娱乐通过一支11秒的视频宣布于10月1日发行〈The Feels〉。[9][10][11]
时间轴
2021年6月25日，官方曾宣布TWICE将于9月的某个星期五于全球发行首支全曲英文歌词的数字单曲。随后陆续推出的预告照都以一封信为主题，分别写道「Sudden Letter ? 」、「Oh! you got my attention」[12]、「Uh, I’m so curious.」[13]。
2021年8月6日，官方公开了新的预告照。照片中有一双手拿着已打开的信封，信封内有一张写有「The Feels_Prom 2021_You are cordially invited to ‘The Feels’ PROM」的舞会邀请卡。照片中还附上一句「Where are we going tonight?」。官方在这则贴文的hashtag中标注了「#GetTheFeelsWithTWICE」，并宣布TWICE的首支英文单曲的歌名为〈The Feels〉[14]。
2021年8月23日，宣布将于10月1日发行首支英文数字单曲〈The Feels〉，并发布预告片[15]。9月3日，发布团体概念照[16]。
9月23日，公布预告时间表[17]，9月24日，发布第二张团体概念照[18]，9月25日及26日，发布成员个人概念照。
9月27日及29日，分别发布〈The Feels〉的两支M/V预告片[19][20]。
10月1日，官方M/V正式发布。全球反应热烈，并在M/V结尾中透露会在10月举办出道六周年纪念活动，接着在11月发行第三张韩语正规专辑，以及举办第四次巡演的消息。
音乐制作
"The Feels" was written by Anna Timgren, Boy Matthews, Justin Reinstein, and Woo Min Lee "collapsedone". Reinstein and collapsedone also handled its production.[21] According to JYP Entertainment, the song is "a fast-tempo disco pop track that combines groovy bass sounds and disco synth beats".[22] Running for 3 minutes and 18 seconds, it is composed in the key of A major with a tempo of 120 beats per minute.[23]
In an interview with Bustle, Momo described "The Feels" as a "bold introduction" to a "new chapter" in their career.[24] "Not only is this song very addictive — it has great hooks — but it shows who we are. It shows our colors and our style", Chaeyoung added.[24] The song was in part meant to cater Twice's international audience,[25] especially those from the United States.[24][26]

The first concept photo for "The Feels" was uploaded on September 3, 2021.[40] Due to her panic and anxiety disorder, Jeongyeon was not able to join the group during the song's promotion.[11][41][42] The remaining members of Twice appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and GMA3: What You Need To Know to perform "The Feels".[42][43][44]

The music video of "The Feels" was uploaded on October 1, 2021. Directed by Oui Kim, the video starts off with members receiving an invitation to a prom.[66] Their sixth anniversary week, third Korean studio album (sixth overall) and fourth world tour were teased at the end of the music video.[67] The music video peaked at number one on YouTube's weekly ranking of the most-viewed music videos in the world, replacing Blackpink member Lisa's performance video for her song, "Money".[68][69]

《The Feels》登上26个国家/地区iTunes 1位，并于美国位列3位，加拿大第9，英国第7，澳大利亚第8，并空降iTunes世界歌曲榜4位，欧洲歌曲榜6位，打破自身及JYP娱乐最高记录。此外的单曲也登上美国告示牌数字歌曲销量榜排名第5，TWICE也成为今年唯一进入该榜前五的KPOP女艺人，也是自身最高记录。 （榜单持续更新中）
