M93

观察史和外观

它是由查尔斯·梅西耶发现的，然后在1781年被添加到他的类彗星天体目录中[lower-alpha 1][6]。威廉·赫歇尔的妹妹卡罗琳·赫歇尔在1783年独立发现了它，认为它还没有被梅西耶编目[7]。

它的川普勒分类为I 3 r，表明它高度集中（I），亮度范围大（3），富含恒星（r）[9]。

M93距离地球大约3,380光年[1]，在空间中的半径从太阳半径到5光年[3]，潮汐半径为13.1±2.3 ly[4]，和内核半径为4.2 ly[10]。它的年龄估计为3亿8730万年[1]，它几乎位于银河平面上，其轨道与银河内核在28—29 kly（8.5—8.9 kpc）之间变动，轨道周期超过 242.7±7.9百万年[1]。
