KeePassXC使用Qt5 库构建，可在Linux 、 Windows和macOS上多平台运行[4]。

KeePassXC使用KeePass 2.x（.kdbx）密码数据库格式作为原生格式[5]，还可以导入并转换KeePass 2和较旧的KeePass 1（.kdb）数据库。 KeePassXC支持使用密钥文件和YubiKey质询响应以提高安全性[2]。

电子前沿基金会将KeePassXC称为“开源且免费的密码管理器示范”[6]。网络软件工具集PrivacyTools已将KeePassXC收录在其推荐的密码管理工具列表[7][8]。
