GNU variants

GNU variants（GNU 变种）是一个自由软件基金会提出的概念，指使用来自GNU的应用软件及函数库（即“用户态”）的操作系统。它的内核不一定是GNU Hurd。.[1][2]

Linux 变种

GNU/Linux一词是GNU计划支持者对由GNU用户态和GNU系统软件搭配Linux内核构成的操作系统的称呼。其中一个著名的例子是Debian GNU/Linux。

FreeBSD 变种

Debian GNU/kFreeBSD 是一个基于Debian 软件包管理系统和FreeBSD内核的GNU发行版。 kFreeBSD 中的k是 kernel of的缩写 [3]，说明事实上只用到完整的FreeBSD的内核。目前没有官方的版本发布，但在2010年8月冻结的Debian Squeeze (6.0)[4] 预期于2010年发布，旨在支持Debian GNU/kFreeBSD. 一种 Debian GNU/kFreeBSD 的live CD是 Ging.[5]
