长黏鲻为辐鳍鱼纲鲻形目鲻科的其中一种，分布于西南太平洋的澳洲海域，栖息深度1-10公尺，体长可达40公分，栖息在沿岸海域、河口区，以藻类及小型甲壳类、软件动物为食，可作为食用鱼。
