辛氏蜥

辛氏蜥（学名：），又名加那利岛蜥蜴，是分布在加那利群岛耶罗岛的一种蜥蜴。

分类

辛氏蜥共有两个亚种：

  • †耶罗岛巨蜴（G. s. simonyi）- 灭绝(1930年代)
  • G. s. machadoi。

以往辛氏蜥下还包括拉帕尔玛巨蜥(Gallotia auaritae)及拉戈梅拉岛巨蜥(Gallotia bravoana)为亚种。[2][3]后者非常接近现存的群落[4]，而其独特性亦未全面接受。[5]在耶罗岛上发现的亚化石被编入史前的Gallotia goliath，但却有指可能是属于现存的物种[6]，但在特内里费岛发现的却有所不同。[4]

保育状况

辛氏蜥的指名亚种耶罗岛巨蜴于1930年代从Roque Chico de Salmor上消失，主要原因是被捕猎、受野生的猫科及银鸥的掠食。[7][8]自牠们的消失，一般都认为该物种已经灭绝。于1974年，德国爬虫学家Werner Bings在耶罗岛发现生存的群落。[9]这个群落被确认为另一亚种，即G. s. machadoi。[10]

现时估计G. s. machadoi只有约300-400只，故被世界自然保护联盟列为极危[1]，且受到《濒危野生动植物种国际贸易公约》附录一的保护。
