煤气灯

煤气灯（英语：）是灯一种，通过燃烧煤气进行发光。煤气灯中不一定是煤气，也可以燃烧其他气体，像是氢、甲烷、一氧化碳、丙烷、丁烷、乙炔、乙烯、天然气，或者混合气体。

未有电气之前，几普遍使用，可以公用。大城市会街上可见到，街灯使用。初时煤气是人手点着，现代的煤气灯有可以自动点着。今日已少见，而转用电灯。

历史

春秋战国时期的中国已经有使用煤气在家中照明及取暖的纪录[1]，煤气以竹筒传输，距离可达数英里[2][3][4][5][6]。

在西方，公共照明比煤气的普及使用早上几个世纪。1417年，时任伦敦市长的亨利·巴顿爵士规定在冬季晚上挂起灯笼。16世纪初，巴黎居民都要在晚上于面向街道的窗户傍燃点蜡烛。至1820年，巴黎才开始出现煤气街灯。

香港中环的都爹利街的石头阶级设有4支煤气灯，至今仍然使用中。
