柠檬桉

柠檬桉（学名：，英语：），俗名柠檬尤加利，为桃金娘科伞房桉属的一种高大常绿乔木，原产于澳大利亚东北边，属于该国的特有种。因叶片搓揉后会散发柠檬香气而得名。

形态

常绿大乔木，树干离地相当高处才分枝，树皮每年片状剥落而茎干呈光滑灰白色。单叶互生、卵披针形、全缘、具柠檬味。圆锥花序，花两性、白色。蒴果球状壶形，内含种子多枚。

分类与命名

柠檬桉于1848年由英国植物学家威廉·杰克逊·胡克首次记载于《 Thomas Mitchell's Journal of an Expedition into the Interior of Tropical Australia 》一书中，命其学名为 Eucalyptus citriodora。[1][2] 而在 1995 年，澳洲的植物学家 Ken Hill 与 植物分类学家 Lawrie Johnson 将 Eucalyptus citriodora 更名为 Corymbia citriodora 。[3][4] 柠檬桉的种小名「citriodora 」在拉丁文中的意思是「有柠檬气味的」。[5]

尚有一些博物学家和保守主义者不承认 Corymbia 属，仍将柠檬桉归类为桉属。[6]

与柠檬桉相似的物种尚有斑桉和 C.henryi。[5]

分布与栖息地

柠檬桉原生长于澳大利亚东北边，生长于开阔的森林林地与地形起伏的乡村中，北起昆士兰南至新南威尔士州的科夫斯港，皆有该物种不连续栖地分布的踪迹。而其在昆士兰州内的分布，最北可到Lakeland Downs、库克敦，向西往内陆可达休恩登 和 Chinchilla。[5][7]

多年前，澳洲东边的伯斯的国王公园曾有一条专门栽种并展示该物种的大道，但现今该物种已经扩散至位于新南威尔士州的雪梨及蓝山、澳洲西南方的开阔林地等，成为自然环境中的杂草。[8][9]

柠檬桉此物种于1918年日治时期引入台湾，首次植栽于台湾南投林业试验所莲华池研究中心。[10] 当时引进目的主要作为造林或园林树种使用。[11]初期栽培存活不易，鲜少推广。[10] 而后才广泛栽培，遍布台湾全岛，成为重要造林树种之一。[12]
