史丹利·葛倫斯

葛倫斯在1950年1月7日出生於美國密西根州阿爾皮納。他於1973年畢業於科羅拉多州大學。後於1976年在丹佛神學院取得道學碩士，在同年6月13日被按立為傳道人。他後來在德國慕尼黑大學修學，在沃爾夫哈特·潘能伯格指導下完成博士論文。[1]

他曾在丹佛的西北浸信會當青年傳道和助理傳道（1971-1976）及在曼尼托巴省 溫尼伯的羅恩戴爾浸信會當牧師（Rowandale Baptist Church；1979-1981）。他曾作許多浸信會的議事會會員及是《今日基督教》的顧問編輯。[2]

葛倫斯於1979年至1981年在溫尼伯當牧者時，曾任教於溫尼伯大學和溫尼伯神學院（Winnipeg Theological Seminary；現為普羅維登斯大學學院及神學院[Providence University College and Theological Seminary]）。他曾在1981年至1990年期間當位於 南達科他州蘇瀑的北美浸信會神學院的系統神學及基督教倫理教授。

在1990至2002年間，他在卡蕾神學院當麥當勞先鋒浸信會傳統、神學與倫理教授（Pioneer McDonald Professor of Baptist Heritage, Theology and Ethics），及在維真神學院教學。他於2002至2003年在貝勒大學當傑出神學教授，和在位於德州韋科的喬治·W·特鲁特神學院（George W. Truett Theological Seminary）教學。一年後又回到卡蕾神學院繼續他麥當勞先鋒浸信會傳統、神學與倫理教授的職務。

他於1996至1999年期間曾擔任位於伊利諾州倫巴第（Lombard）北美浸信會神學院的客席教授。

他在2004年秋季學期在位於西雅圖的馬斯希爾康研究院（Mars Hill Graduate School）當神學教授。[2]

葛倫斯的重大貢獻在於他把福音派理論與世界接軌。[3] 他的寫作題材廣泛，由性議題、歷史、以至基本護教學均有涉獵，可算是廿世紀末至廿一世紀初的美國福音派的主要代表之一。[4]

根據他的神學家朋友羅杰·E·奧爾森（Roger E. Olson）談及，葛倫斯的神學帶有點阿民念主義的風格。[5]

他和教會音樂家妻子埃德娜·葛倫斯（Edna Grenz）育有一子一女：約珥·葛倫斯（Joel Grenz）和科瑞娜·庫班（Corina Kuban）。他的孫子是安妮塔·格雷斯·庫班（Anika Grace Kuban）。[2] 他於2005年3月12日在溫哥華聖保羅醫院於睡夢中逝世，死因為腦部動脈瘤惡化。[6][3]
